The site is on William Maker Drive, in north Orange, an area that is still awaiting roads and houses.

Sydney firm Hanna’s Childcare Developments has put a development application to Orange City Council.

The period of public exhibition of the plans closed last Friday.

Council officers will now review any submissions from the public with the development application.

Project manager Anthony Hanna said his firm had submitted the application and if approved would be seeking someone to run it once the centre was built.

“I am looking for a local person to become the operator/tenant,” he said.

Mr Hanna said he was a developer and a builder who specialised in child care and daycare centres.

“At the moment this is just a DA [development application].

“It is still early days.

“There are no roads there yet.”

The application said it would cater for children aged 0-5 years.

“Hours of operation will be 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday.

“Onsite car parking, external play spaces and landscaping will be provided.”

The 92 spaces for children is broken down to 32 spaces for 0-2 year olds, 20 places for 2-3 year olds, 20 for 3-4 year olds and 20 for 4-5 year olds.

“The child care centre will employ a minimum of 16 child care staff.

“Child care staff will commence work on a staggered basis between 7am and 10.30am as child care places are progressively filled and finish on a staggered basis as children are collected,” the application said.

The application covers lots 202, 203 and 204 in the subdivision.

Figures from the 2016 census show 0-9 year olds make up the biggest percentage of Orange’s population.

A NSW Department of Planning and Environment report on Orange’s future has said there will be an increase in the number of 0-4 year olds in the next 20 years.
