I see it is OK to vote ‘no’ for a change in the definition of marriage.

No amount of political labelling can change the value that marriage is the expression of a unique union between a man and a woman. It always has been and always will be.

A couple of years ago I was driving through Wales, listening to an interview with a lady celebrating 60 years of marriage.

She described the experience as ‘60 years joined at the hip.’

This is a core description of a physical experience that only happens between a man and woman in private, from a public commitment with friends and family.

The Good Book describes marriage as leaving families to form this family unit: “a man will leave his father and mother to be united to his wife, and they become one flesh”.

From the marriage between a man and woman, two become one. It is a unique bond.

While our western culture is becoming increasingly noisy and liberal around issues of sexuality, marriage is worth the effort preserving.
