Andrew Mervyn Eggleton, 40, of Spring Street, was fined $500 and disqualified for 12 months.
Police saw Eggleton driving a red Mercedes SUV south on Spring Street at 9.50pm on June 27.
In court, Mr Stapleton said his client was driving because he was concerned his daughter was worried about an unwanted visitor. Magistrate Terry Lucas said he should have phoned police instead of driving.
