She has been awarded an academic and sports scholarship, to study at Averett University in Virginia, USA. She will be studying Sports Wellness/Medicine and Psychology over a four year course and on conclusion will finish with a Bachelors’ degree.
We are very proud of Eleanor’s achievements and we wish her all the best in her future tennis career.
The second round of the men’s singles competition, was contested last Sunday and there was plenty of great tennis played.
Team Newcombe’s winner was Chris Doucas on a perfect 24 games, closely followed on 21 games was Carl Buchtmann and in third position was David Kozul on 16 games.
Team Hewitt’s best was Sam Radojicic with a perfect 24 games. Second went to Brad Penrose on 20 games and right behind him was Tom Rouse on 19 games.
While, on team Rafter, Julian May came first with another perfect 24 games, closely followed on 22 games was Aleks Radojicic and in third place was Ningshong Cai on 20 games.
There were three courts in use for mixed social and the winner of the free hit voucher was Mary Baxter.
Seven of our men represented the club over at Forbes last weekend to contest the Forbes Teams Tournament. Col Parsons, Wayne Scott, Rick Taylor, David Kozul, Brett Campbell and Sam and Aleks Radojicic said they immensely enjoyed the tennis.
On the junior scene, a few members are travelling to Bathurst this Sunday to contest the Junior Development Series (JDS) tournament.
Our annual club championships are creeping up fast. The sign is up on the notice board for players to enter. So far, the men’s events are well supported but we need more ladies to get their names in. The event starts on Sunday, September 3.
The very important over 35s seniors tournament will be held on September 16 and 17. Registration forms are available from the clubhouse. The monthly committee meeting will be held on Sunday, at 12.30pm.
