During Rex flight ZL167 on Wednesday, the aircraft experienced “moderate then severe turbulence” on descent into Sydney’s Kingsford Smith Airport.

A female passenger who had hit her head during the turbulence was treated by paramedics when the plane landed.

“She was assessed and then transferred to hospital as a precaution,” a spokeswoman from Rex said.

A passenger aboard the flight claimed there was no seat belt light illuminated or warning announcement made during the descent – a claim that was rejected by the airline’s spokeswoman.

“Public announcements were made by the crew prior to descent advising reports of turbulence ahead and of the importance of ensuring that seat belts were firmly fastened,” she said.

“The seat belt sign was on for the entire duration of the flight.”
