There were 15 men who registered to play and all were very eager to take to the courts and to contest the first week of the event.
According to spectators, all players were very focused, treating each match with all seriousness.
Starting at 10am and concluding at 1pm, the competition was played as a round robin with three pools, so every player had plenty of tennis which by all reports they thoroughly enjoyed.
The results on the first day were;
POOL A:
Carl Buchtmann won on 24 games, right on his heels was Chris Doucas with 23 games and in third place was Josh Ristvej on 20 games.
POOL B:
David Kozul won with 24 games to his name, in second place was Sam Radojicic on 19 games with Daniel Kozul in third on 14 games.

Our annual Club Championships are creeping up fast too.
The sign is up on the notice board in Clubhouse and I am pleased to say there is already a lot of names entered, mainly in the men’s events.
On that note, we’d like to see some ladies write their names down soon so get in and get involved.
The Ladies and Men’s Singles events will be held on Sunday, September 3, with the Ladies and Men’s Doubles on the 10th and the Mixed Doubles on the 24th.
In among those dates is our very important yearly event, the Over 35s Seniors Tournament, where players travel from all over the state to contest.
This will be held at our complex on the weekend of September 16 and 17 which we are really looking forward to.
I have already started to receive entries, which is promising.
Our Coaches, Alison and Darren are always available for all coaching needs. Please phone clubhouse on 6362 8020 for any enquires.
Also our complex is available for all court hire to the public.
Phone clubhouse in advance to secure a court.
At last Sunday’s Mixed Social, the free hit voucher was drawn and that was won by Rod Buesnel.
Mixed Social will commence at 1.30pm this Sunday.
Dedicated committee man Brad Penrose will be on duty to arrange the sets for what should be another great afternoon of tennis.
