The 39-year-old of Myora Place, appeared in court for driving while disqualified and possessing 1.5 grams of cannabis.
He was given a six-month suspended jail sentence and was disqualified from driving for two years for breaching the driving disqualification on April 14, less than a month before he could get his licence back.
He was also fined $500 for possessing 1.5 grams of cannabis on April 3.
However, Blandford was also given a 12-month jail sentence, of which he must serve at least six months in custody, because the two offences breached an existing suspended jail sentence.
Blandford was represented in court by solicitor Gerry Stapleton who said Blandford recently moved to Mandurama.
Mr Stapleton said Blandford was caught driving while disqualified during a random breath test.
Mr Stapleton also said Blandford made attempts to address his use of illegal drugs and went on the methadone program.
His statement was supported by a document submitted to the court that said Blandford stopped using methamphetamine last November.
However, Mr Stapleton said his client continued using cannabis to self medicate for a back injury he received in a workplace accident 10 years ago.
“He’s been deemed medium risk of re-offending, not high,” Mr Stapleton said.
Blandford had been placed on the initial 12-month suspended jail sentence for supplying methamphetamine, which was found in his car on June 7, 2016.
During the search, police found a bag of methamphetamine with a gross weight of 1.5 grams and three more resealable bags of methamphetamine weighing 0.9 grams.
According to police facts, police also found digital scales, more resealable plastic bags and texts on his phone that appeared to relate to drug sales.
