It was the same intersection, but diagonally opposite, where a sinkhole opened up in May causing a ute to get stuck in the hole.
A witness said he could see water pouring from the hole just before the truck arrived at the intersection.
“A truck went round the corner and the back of the truck fell in the hole,” the witness who did not give his name, said.
“He gave it a bootful to get out of the hole.”
The witness said it was fortunate two school buses had earlier passed the scene without incident.
Orange City Council spokesman Nick Redmond said members of the council’s water crew were on the scene at the corner of Wentworth and Kenna streets about 8.30am on Wednesday to repair the damaged roadway.
“The crews found a damaged 100mm water main,” he said.
“The pipe was repaired and the water was back on in nearby homes by 11.30 am.
“The site of the damaged pipe is across the road from where another damaged pipe was repaired earlier in the year.
“Water pipes break from time to time at various locations in Orange.
“There are no indications of a connection with roadworks at the site earlier in the year,” he said.
