Matthew Keith Powell, of Nunkeri Place, faced Orange Local Court after police discovered he had left his house in breach of his bail on July 2.
When Powell was located at 4.40am on July 3, he told police he had gone to Orange Health Service for a spider bite, but inquiries revealed no one with his name or injury had been treated.
Attempts to arrest Powell at 7.15am led to a wrestle before he could be handcuffed.
Solicitor Nidal Abdi said he had seen the bite.
“While he accepts he was thrashing, he had been woken up,” he said.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Beau Riley opposed a fine because Powell had good behaviour bonds for the same offence, but magistrate Terry Lucas considered it a minor matter.
