Using their speed and mobility with aplomb, the students overcame the Boars’ big pack to record their second win of the season and send the Mudgee Wombats to the bottom of the table.
CSU coach Scott Hatch said his team stuck to their game plan throughout the 80 minutes at Parkes.
“It’s always to get off the bottom of the ladder,” he said.
“I thought both teams threw the ball around and took their chances.
“They were on top early but then we hit back. For once, we made the most of our moments in attack.
“Parkes obviously have a very big pack, even in second grade, and they carried the ball well.
“Our defence was way better this week against that big pack, not trying to take them too high.
“In attack we were looking to go two, three passes wide often and moving the ball quickly from the ruck.”
Lochie Robinson had a blinder for the visitors with four tries, he’s consistently been the students’ best this year.

“When you’ve got someone like Lochie Robinson there who can finish off tries that helps a lot,” he said.
“He’s had an outstanding year for us.”
It was a vast improvement from CSU on its performance against the Boars at University Oval earlier this season, where the students left their run too late in a 33-22 loss.
CSU now sits level with the Dubbo Rhinos on 14 points, two clear of Mudgee.
Saturday was a high point for the club this year as they picked up wins in every grade, a feat as rare as hen’s teeth this year.
The win for colts, in particular, was a vital one as they keep their battle for finals rugby alive.
CSU hosts the undefeated Orange Emus next week.
