Seven years later there are 14 empty shops in the heart of Orange.
The most significant to close is our principal store, Myer in January.
Some of the businesses are in the process of refurbishment and are expected to re-open but, the empty shopfronts are a concern for residents and shop owners.
The general manager of Percy’s Bar and Kitchen, Nick Garton, said there was little that could be done by the Orange City Council as they were all private buildings.
“I know there are a lot of empty buildings,” he said.
That included two next to his business which had been closed for some time.
