While Queensland was breaking NSW’s hearts, yet again, there was some fierce play in the Wednesday night mixed squash competition.

Team 4 Baker beat Team 5 Matters with wins for Jasper Matters, Chris Elkington, Tony Baker and Craig ‘Doogie’ Hausler, while Ian Middleton looked worse than Mitchell Pearce’s State of Origin record in his first two games.

But, unlike the Roosters half and his Blues, Middleton stormed home to win in five.

Team 1 Fitzgerald snuck home against Team 3 Garton with wins for Kym Knight, George Eleftheriou, Nathan Garton and Charlie Locke while Sonja Fitzgerald guaranteed her team bonus points by upsetting a frazzled Steve Blackwood in four games.

Team 2 Kirk beat Team 6 Grant with wins for Yvonne Tracey, Chris Grant, Belinda Thurtell and an out of shape Grant Michell, while Steve Kirk beat young gun Jacob wooding in four tight games.
