But now Big Ted is on the road again with the Play School show as part of a national stage tour.

And when Big Ted visits Orange next week with Little Ted, Jemima and Humpty Dumpty he will have a regal role to fill.

Complete with a royal crown and a royal cloak Prince Big Ted has loads of fun in store.

While he has the title and the crown and the cloak he doesn’t have a castle.

All the children who attend the show at the Orange Ex-Services’ Club next Tuesday will be able to help Prince Big Ted and the Play School crew search for a castle.

Isabelle Johnson-Dunn, 5, and Oscar Halls, 4, are among the excited children who can’t wait to see them.

Isabelle’s favourite character is Little Ted while Oscar says Big Ted is pretty cool.

Isabelle’s mum Melissa McKenzie said they were all looking to forward to seeing the TV characters on stage.

“It’s the first time we’re going to see it,” she said.

“We’ve seen The Wiggles before.”

The show will be presented by Play School favourites Alex Papps and Teo Gebert.

Show director and tour manager Samantha Kirby said Play School was an iconic children’s show with important lessons.

“It’s about sharing, caring and looking at things a bit differently, to think and to feel,” she said.

“That’s the message Play School sends out.”

Ms Kirby said there was a benefit to bringing the show to regional centres.

“When you’ve got a full-sized show, the magic is seeing a sea of children standing up and in awe of what’s on stage,” she said.

“Usually it’s a kid’s first concert, we want them to have that up close and personal experience.”

Play School: Prince of Bears is on at 10.30am on Tuesday, July 18.

Tickets are $19.80 and free for children younger than 12, accompanied by a valid ticket holder.
