Orange City Council will rejoin Evocities for at least a year after councillors were tempted by government funding.

The council elected to leave in 2016 amid dissatisfaction with the reporting standards, value for money and lack of government support.
Councillor Jason Hamling wanted a firmer indication of state funding.
“If they can’t, I can’t see why we would put our money towards it,” he said.
But after general manager Garry Styles said it would be unfair to the program’s six other members to wait for confirmation, councillors voted to rejoin the movement for $70,000.
Mayor John Davis said the “climate is good for the next 18 months”.

Councillors Jason Hamling, Scott Munro and Reg Kidd were against rejoining.
Evocities also includes Bathurst, Dubbo, Tamworth, Armidale, Albury and Wagga.
