Funding in the rural and regional education development, arts and culture and sports development programs has been distributed to applicants from schools and early childhood centres, sporting clubs and not-for profit organisations across the Central West.
Successful recipients of education grants include Canobolas Public School, Forbes High School and Parkes High School for their robotics programs.
Parkes East Public School received a grant in support of their program facilitating transition of students into kindergarten.
The arts program provided support for the Rotary Club of Orange to conduct poetry workshops for school children with a professional poet, encouraging them to present poems at the 2018 Banjo Paterson Festival.
Canowindra Arts Incorporated received support for their regional youth artist development program, which connects up aspiring young artists with experienced artists.
Cudal Public School P&C will use their funding to support a whole-school theatrical performance while the Canowindra Public School artists-in-residence project aims to inspire children and teachers to experiment with art.
The sports development grants will assist Orange’s Waratah Cricket Club with the purchase of shirts and equipment. Forbes High School will use their funding to support access to regional athletics and running competitions while Red Bend Catholic College will purchase equipment to support their swimming program.
