Below is our story from that day and our massive gallery of your photos as families, friends and even pets lapped up the city's winter wonderland ...
IT’S a natural weather pattern, but people from across the region couldn’t help but get excited at another dumping of snow that turned Orange into a winter wonderland on Friday.
Despite predictions Orange would only receive a light dusting overnight, residents woke up to a thick blanket covering the city for the third time in a week.
Those who were lucky enough to be granted a day off converged on Mount Canobolas to see the best snow.
David Allen and his children Ezekiel, Daniel, Eliso and Jeremy Allen did not let distance stop them from seeing snow, driving two hours from Dubbo to frolic in the white power on the mountain.
The children, who attend a private school in Dubbo, were on the last day of their school holidays and Mr Allen said it was a good chance to do something novel before holidays ended.
“We made a couple of toboggans before we left home this morning to come and see the snow,” Mr Allen said.
“We’ll play around [the base of the mountain] for a little while, and then we’ll walk up the mountain and might see if we can find some bigger slopes to toboggan down.”
Orange was not the only place to have up to 10 centimetres of snow on Friday, with falls also recorded in Lithgow, Blue Mountains, Bathurst, Oberon, Goulburn, and even Stanthorpe in Queensland.
