It’s about sharing, caring and looking at things a bit differently, to think and to feel.
- Show director and tour manager Samantha Kirby
Big Ted, Little Ted, Jemima and Humpty Dumpty will embark on a national tour for the Play School: Prince of Bears show, and will visit their fans in Orange.
The story follows Prince Big Ted who has a royal crown and a royal cloak but doesn’t have a royal castle.
Prince Big Ted goes on a search to find a castle with the help of the rest of the Play School crew.
The show will be presented by Play School favourites Alex Papps and Teo Gebert.
Show director and tour manager Samantha Kirby said Play School was an iconic children’s show with important lessons.
“It’s about sharing, caring and looking at things a bit differently, to think and to feel,” she said.
“That’s the message Play School sends out.”
Ms Kirby said there was a benefit to bringing the show to regional centres.
“When you’ve got a full-sized show, the magic is seeing a sea of children standing up and in awe of what’s on stage,” she said.
“Usually it’s a kid’s first concert, we want them to have that up close and personal experience.
“They’re much more connected when they’re close to it.”
Ms Kirby said the show was designed to be a memorable experience for children and their parents.
“[The children] are signing and dancing, you’re with your friends, you’re seeing the kids play,” she said.
“The real message is to come along and have a fantastic day out and get to see your little ones have the best time.”
Ms Kirby said the Play School live shows were based on simple storytelling.
“The toys are the star of the show, that’s where the excitement comes along,” she said. “We don’t a huge lighting show, it’s about the simple things.
“It’s a show that’s relied on the content, rather than what’s happening behind stage.”
Play School: Prince of Bears will be held at Orange Ex-Services’ Club at 10.30am on Tuesday, July 18.
Tickets are $19.80 and free for children under 12 accompanied by a valid ticket holder.
