This year’s theme is ‘Once upon a time in Orange’ with guests invited to dress as their favourite fairy tale character.
The annual event raises thousands of dollars used to keep the facility open for children and families travelling for medical care.
Ronald McDonald House Orange’s executive officer Rebecca Walsh said the facility covered 86 per cent of NSW and 65 per cent of the nights spent are for families accessing mental health services.
Since the facility opened in April 2015, 250 families have stayed across more than 2000 nights in Orange.
Over 28,000 hours of work by volunteers has been logged since 2015.
“Our specialities are based on the hospitals you’re next to,” Ms Walsh said.
As well as mental health, paediatric and antental services other reasons people use the house.
Ms Walsh said as well as providing a home away from home, Ronald McDonald House also helped transition people away from metropolitan hospitals during their recovery so they could be closer to family.
Renascent Orange’s general manager Grant Bryan said it was the first time the business had signed up as a major sponsor of the charity ball.
Mr Bryan said he had seen the benefits Ronald McDonald House provided.
“I had friends who had a child who stayed here and one of our project managers is on the committee,” he said.
“There’s not enough organisers like this which help people who are struggling with medical issues.”
Tony Leahey Motor Group’s dealer principal Tim Leahey said supporting the Ronald McDonald House was a worthwhile cause.
He said the house was helping to make Orange a hub for medical services in the Central West.
“It’s for a good cause and it’s all about helping kids and families,” Mr Leahey said.
“They do a good job and there’s a lot of people around including the Lewis (family) who helped get it off the ground. It’s up to the community to keep our Ronald McDonald House running.”
The ball is set for September 9, tickets are $160 and available from Ronald McDonald House Orange on 6363 1960.
