A strong first half from FC paved the way for a convincing win in which they utilised ball movement to fatigue their opponents.
Considering the two sides are first and second, not many ODFA punters expected such a one-sided result but FC gun Ryan Sinclair revealed his side was thrilled to claim outright first with a game in hand over the rest of the top four.
However, Sinclair was mindful of his opponents absentees.
“They had about four or five guys missing,” he said.
“We played good football in the first half … but it was probably a case of them not having enough players rather than us being really good”.
With seven wins, two draws and no losses, Sinclair thinks this side is better than last year’s outfit that lost the grand final.
“I think we’re playing better football now,” he said.
Over the next two weeks Waratah FC play Saints Turbulence and Barnstoneworth United which is guaranteed to be a testing fortnight for the league leaders.
In the other round 10 matches, Waratah United defeated Millthorpe Tigers 2-0, Saints Turbulence defeated Ex-Services 3-1 and Barstoneworth drew 2-2 with Waratah Wildcats after a late header to Sam Sutton helped United avoid the upset loss for the premiers.
