WHEN it comes to training this week, there is a good chance that Bathurst City will be devoting time to its penalty corner plays.

Had City’s finishing on the set play been better in Saturday’s women’s Premier League Hockey match against St Pat’s, it could have emerged victorious.
Instead each of City’s nine penalty corner plays were shut down by the Saints, with the blue and whites winning 2-1.
It was the first loss City had suffered this season, but not the first time an opposition had done well against its penalty corner battery. A week earlier the Bathurst side converted just two off 11 against Parkes.
“They tried right to the death, they stuck to the game plan and I thought the transfer in the midfield was excellent. We just have to finish off those chances,” Phil Baker, who acted as coach in Lisa Quinn’s absence, said.
“The flow of the game was fast from both sides, it was a very good game of hockey I thought.
“Probably on our side just finishing off was the main thing, there wasn’t that many opportunities. We had nine corners and came away with no goals from there, so that needs some fine tuning.
“There was some frustration there, trying to play catch up hockey is hard. We tried a bit harder and made a few mistakes.”
Still, only Lithgow Panthers has scored more goals this season than City.
The Bathurst side has found the mark 27 times in eight games.
