For Wanderers, their trip to Lithgow to face Panthers is a huge chance to build on last week’s strong showing against Bathurst St Pat’s and, potentially, cause the upset of the season.
For Ex-Services, it’s similar. In round one the blue and golds matched it with Panthers, going down 4-2, but had points stripped after playing an unregistered player.
So, it’s a chance to avenge that loss and potentially make up those points as well.
Confederates trumped Bathurst Souths 2-1 in round one, this weekend gives the red and blues a chance to continue their dominance in what has become a match-up full of rivalry.
Souths coach Damien Carter says the two blues have other ideas though. There’s extra motivation, considering they’ll farewell Tahlia Cranston and Tahnee Isedale after this game.
“The girls are in a good frame of mind at the moment, this is Tahl’s and Tahnee’s farewell,” Carter said.
“But like last week, we need to win. This is a game I want to win and I expect to win, we need to win to keep in touch.
“I’m expecting a better scoreline than a 2-1 loss and I think that would put us in good stead for Parkes next week. If we can beat Parkes again, that’s three wins in a row and the season isn’t looking so bad.
“Feds, we will be treating them the same as we did last time we played them. They don’t have the out and out speed of sides like City and Lithgow Panthers, they go up the middle and use Rachel Divall.
“What cost us last time was some lazy marking, that’s where they got their two goals.”
Wanderers kick off against Panthers at 3.50pm, Ex-Services face Lithgow from 2.40pm and Feds tackle the two blues, in Bathurst, from 1pm.
