Orange Social Justice Group chairperson Bev Holland said the exhibition raised the profile of refugees in the community.
“The exhibition is to let the community know there are people in our midst who are so joyous and happy to be here and have brought their skills and are doing things in the community,” Mrs Holland said.
Mrs Holland said the exhibition presented two sides to the refugee story. “The families are happy things, talking about feeling safe and feeling at peace, and doing what they like doing with their families,” she said.
“But we have other photos [that show people that] are definitely not happy people people behind bars in these prisons.”
The exhibition will be at Orange Regional Museum until Monday.
Refugee Week runs until Saturday and celebrates the positive contributions of refugees.
