The Orange Rail Action Group has welcomed the state government’s announcement this week of an express morning train/bus link starting from Sydney but they said another service needed to start from Orange.
Spokesman Phil Stevenson said Orange travellers had to be at the station by 4.50am for the coach link to the Bathurst Bullet train or wait until 9am for the next bus out of Orange.
“The 9am bus gets to Lithgow at 11am then it’s 26 stops to Central so you don’t get to Central till 2pm,” he said.
“And there’s a 30-minute wait for the train at Lithgow.”
Mr Stevenson said an express morning coach-train link to Sydney was vital.
“Driving to Sydney is a challenge for most people and it’s a challenge financially with parking costing $50-$60.”
He said they would seek a meeting with Member for Orange Phil Donato.
