The orders are the equivalent of community based imprisonment and include surveillance, monitoring, drug and alcohol testing, searches, home visits, reporting requirements, and 32 hours of community service each month.

Dee-Jay Kent, 24, of Richards Place had been placed on the five suspended jail sentences after being caught driving while disqualified five times in Canowindra last year.

He had previously been disqualified from getting his driver’s licence until 2032 in Orange Local Court on September 8, 2016.

Kent appeared in Orange Local Court for sentencing on Monday and was represented by solicitor Paul Johnson.

Mr Johnson said his client had been deemed suitable for an intensive corrections order.

Kent was sentenced on the Canowindra matters in January this year but was caught driving again on April 5.

He was issued a 12-month intensive community corrections order for the latest offence and was disqualified from driving for an additional two years.

According to police facts, police saw Kent driving in a shopping centre car park at 11.15am on April 5, and followed the green Holden Commodore sedan, he was driving.

Police followed him east along Moulder Street and stopped him in Peisley Street.

Police said Kent swapped seats with the passenger when stopped, however, he confessed to having been driving when questioned by police.

Kent was arrested and taken to Orange Police Station and was described by officers as being genuinely remorseful and polite.

Kent was also placed on an 18-month intensive corrections order, until November 28, 2018, for each breach of the five suspended jail sentences.

On September 2, 2016, he was caught driving while disqualified when he was stopped for a roadside breath test. 

He told police he was taking his sick baby to the hospital when he was caught on September 8, 2016.

He was caught driving in the car park of the Canowindra Health Centre on On September 29 and October 12, 2016.

He confessed to a fifth charge on October 12, 2016.
