Mr Gee told the House of Representatives on Wednesday metropolitan universities were “actively” trying to kill Charles Sturt University’s (CSU) proposal.
“Our communities are very disappointed in the unnecessarily predatory and negative approach that the likes of Sydney University are taking on this issue,” he said.

CSU vice-chancellor Professor Andrew Vann said city medical schools had been lobbying against the Murray Darling proposal, but fresh data proved the health system had the capacity to take rural students.
“We’re confident we’ve got the model,” he said.
