Instead, the Orange District Football Association All Age A grade outfit is solely focused on winning this winter.
And it’s working a treat.
FC knocked off Waratah Wildcats 6-1 on Saturday to remain undefeated and on top of the competition’s A grade ladder.
Sinclair scored his side’s opening five goals, before Brock Jaeger converted from the penalty spot to complete the 6-1 rout of the last-placed Wildcats.
The five-goal win is FC’s fourth in a row, a streak that also includes a redemption-seeking win of sorts, a 5-2 thrashing of Barnies in round five.
Not that FC is talking about that too much.
“We’re not, we’re just focused on this year,” five-goal hero Kiel Sinclair said, even though his side’s victory over Barnies was sweet.
“It’s always a bit of a grudge match, Waratahs versus Barnies, so it was just nice to beat them.”
Against the luckless Wildcats, FC started the match with 10 men and played the entire game without a recognised goalkeeper.
It mattered little, though, Sinclair the beneficiary of some sublime passing from the FC boys to net his side’s three first-half goals and then the next two in the final period before Jaeger got on the score sheet too.
“As a team it was a really pleasing performance. All of the boys passed the ball really well.”
In other A grade games, Waratah United defeated Ex-Services FC 3-1 and Waratah Old Boys continued its unbeaten start to 2017 as well.
The Old Boys got the points against Saints Turbulence and now boast an identical four wins, two draws and no losses record as FC.
FC is on top of the ladder thanks to a superior points differential.
A 5-3 win by Barnestoneworth A grade over Millthorpe was enough to keep last year’s premiers in the hunt in the Orange A grade football competition.
Barnestoneworth are now only one win behind two Waratahs side that share the top of the table position.
In other games, Barnestoneworth B continued their strong form with a 7-0 win over Barbarians in the B/C grade competition.
Barnies started slow in the first half before the Boulton clan starting to fire. Jakob Boulton scored a hat-trick with brothers Blake scoring a double and Jeremy scoring 1. Wade Manning chipped in for his usual, to round out the scoring.
The win sets up a tantalizing clash with the comp’s other undefeated side CYMS.
