Thanks to a change in government legislation it has become much cheaper to own a classic car if you belong to a car club.
Mr Nokes said that meant cars and owners came rushing out of sheds and garages around Orange to sign up.
He said it has caused a lot of work – but the annual Gnoo Blas car show is still his most hectic time.
“The car show is pretty busy for three months before and then one month after is for paying all the bills.”
Mr Nokes was made a life member of the club last year and works tirelessly for the group.
But the retired credit union manager still has time to take his pride and joy, a 1966 Ford XP Falcon two-door coupe for a regular run.
He said it was sold new in Sydney in 1966 for $2430, he bought it in 2004 for $12,500 and he said it was now worth about $30,000.
