To be held on courts in Bathurst and Orange, including the Kinross Wolaroi School facility, the event has attracted teams from the Central West, Blue Mountains, Upper Hunter, Riverina and Central Coast.
“This year we have 41 teams, which is about 160 players altogether, it would have to be the biggest tournament in New South Wales,” Fuller said.
“It has been going for about 36 years now and I’ve been running it for 34.
“We’ve got teams from Bathurst, Orange, Condobolin, Denman, Dubbo, Grenfell, Wallerawang, Cowra, Parkes, Wagga, Springwood, Forbes, Rylstone and Wyong, so that’s a lot of different towns.”
The battle for the A grade men’s title is shaping as a hot one. Grenfell is the defending champion, but Fuller said its four-player team will face stiff opposition.
Bathurst's A grade men’s team comprises of Jason Black, Glenn Atkinson, 15-times women’s club champion Alisha Pollard at number three and Evan Jones.
“In A grade, it’s probably the best numbers I’ve had. I’ve got seven teams in the men’s and they are all pretty even too. It would be too hard for me to pick a winner,” Fuller said.
“Bathurst is looking pretty good, they’ve got a lot of depth this year and look to be a solid team.
“For the women’s, we are a bit short on players, so I’ve combined the A and B for the rounds and it will sort itself out when we get to the knockout rounds on Sunday.
“I want to thank people who keep supporting this tournament.”
