The Sky Blues formally reached an agreement to keep their million-dollar Brazilian striker until the end of the 2017-18 A-League season after finalising terms with his overseas representatives. After scoring 15 goals in 29 games in Sydney FC's stellar run towards the A-League double, the club had no hesitation in offering Bobo a chance to remain as one of their two marquee players for next season.

Sydney FC have long flagged their intentions to keep Bobo for another year after being impressed by his performances and goal tally this season. His return was the second-highest for any player in a single season of the club's history.

As revealed by Fairfax Media, Bobo agreed in principle to remaining with Sydney FC in April and signed a one-year contract extension on Tuesday.
"I'm very happy to be remaining a Sydney FC player for next season," Bobo said. "This club is like a family to me now, I want to repay the faith shown in my by [head coach Graham Arnold] by claiming more titles in 2017/18 and I believe we can be even better."

The former Gremio, Besiktas and Corinthians player is set to become the fourth player to commit to Sydney FC since their grand final triumph over Melbourne Victory. Matt Simon and Jordy Buijs sealed new contracts while Milos Ninkovic's scintillating form was rewarded with an elevation to a lucrative marquee contract. It's understood winger David Carney is also likely to re-sign with Sydney FC, alongside captain Alex Brosque.

Meanwhile, former Hull City assistant Neil McDonald is emerging as a late contender to become the new Adelaide United coach, challenging former Argentinian striker Gabriel Batistuta for the Reds' vacant head coaching role. McDonald was recently an assistant to Mike Phelan at Hull and previously coached Blackpool, Carlisle in League One as well as Blackburn Rovers as a caretaker.
