Copious amounts of tea, scones, cake and slices are on offer with all proceeds going to the Cancer Council.
Secretary to the Millthorpe CWA branch Susan Chudleigh said at some point in our lives we have all been touched by cancer.
“It is vitally important that we all continue to raise money for research into cures for many types of cancer,” Mrs Chudleigh said.
“There is still a long way to go and everyone is affected by this insidious disease.”
BUILDING A WALL
THE trenches have been dug, cement poured and the work is beginning to take shape for Millthorpe’s very own stone wall.
Signs designed by Sam Yeates have been erected to warn traffic of workman ahead and the volunteers are lining up by the dozen.
Speaking on site Mr Yeates mentioned that Orange Mini Concrete very kindly donated the concrete and the truck.
“Laying the groundwork for Millthorpe’s new venture are some exceptional local community members and we are very grateful for all their support,” Mr Yeates said.
“Digging the initial trenches we had a good team with Peter Whiley, Sophie and Tom Campbell and their children, Matt from the bottom pub, Mrs Marsh and Bruce and Nick Debere.
“Pouring the concrete was the team of Tony Wise and the infamous jack-of-all trades Gerry Faulkiner. We still have a lot to do but it is taking shape.
“Christine Hindmarsh is donating the stones and we would be very grateful for more volunteers in the coming weeks.”
The stone wall club is waiting on the cut bluestone from Blayney Shire Council to proceed to the next stages.
VINTAGE CARS
MILLTHORPE was a hive of activity on Friday with nearly 100 vintage cars visiting the village.
President of the Orange District Antique Motor Club John Nicholson said it was a great attraction and is now set up as an annual event.
ACOUSTIC SUNDAY
