Last week Ex-Services lost 4-2 to Lithgow Panthers, but the result reverted to a 5-0 forfeit defeat and the club was stripped of four competition points thanks to a registration issue.
But the blue and golds put that firmly behind them on Saturday, blasting their way to a 4-0 drubbing on Zig Zag, a much-needed one in the context of their campaign.
The victory lifts the side to sixth.
Ex-Services showed what its capable of against Panthers in round one and built on that against Zig Zag, especially in front of goal.
The mercurial Shian Duboc bagged a double in the win while Kayla Orrock, who returned to the club this year, also found the back of the net, as did young Lilly Baker.
The defensive effort was just as pleasing for Ex-Services as the side kept Zig Zag scoreless.
A big win was the perfect way for the Orange side to head into next weekend’s general bye, for the Hockey NSW Under 18s Championship at Narellan, which kicks off on Friday.
The blue and golds face Bathurst Souths after that.
