During his first appearance, Orange Local Court was told Will Summerfield, 18, of Prince Street, had been homeless.
He was given two 18-month good behaviour bonds, for being armed with a hunting knife with intent to commit an indictable offence and for disguising his face with intent to commit an indictable offence.
His solicitor Paul Johnson said described the event as “comical” and said it was the first time his client had come to police attention.
“He had a t-shirt wrapped around his head and went into a shop when [someone] in the shop said ‘take that t-shirt off your head you fool’ and he did and apologised and left the shop,” Mr Johnson said.
Summerfield has been assessed as low-risk of reoffending and since the February 19, offence has found accommodation and employment.
