The pursuit took place on Burrendong Way at Euchareena on Friday, November 11, 2016, when police detected a silver Holden sedan travelling at an estimated speed of between 125km/h and 135km/h in a 100km/h zone.
A police radar detected the car’s speed as 130km/h so police conducted a u-turn to stop the car but instead it sped up so a pursuit was called.
However, police were still trying the close the gap, which extended up to one kilometre, when the pursuit was called off five minutes after the car was first sighted.
The pursuit was cancelled for safety reasons because the highway patrol car had reached 180km/h and the Holden was believed to be going faster.
The car continued driving towards Stewart Town but police inquiries revealed the car was believed to be in the custody of Dwayne John Ah-See, 27, of Lucas Street.
When police spoke with him on November 14, 2016, and again on January 13, Ah-See refused to say who was driving the car so he was charged with not disclosing the driver’s details and failing to give information leading to the driver’s identification.
Police seized the car and had it removed from where it was parked in Kokoda Street on January 13.
Ah-See did not appear in Orange Local Court for sentencing on Monday where he was fined $500 for each charge.
Drug driving
A woman has been fined $1600 and disqualified from driving for six months for driving with methamphetamine in her system.
Shannon Brink, 24, of Dalton Street was unable to attend Orange Local Court on Monday for sentencing but had pleaded guilty to the charge of driving with an illicit drug present in her blood.
Brink was driving a white Holden Commodore sedan along Byng Street when she was stopped by police for a random breath and drug test at 2.45pm on November 23, 2016.
The breath test was negative but she tested positive to methamphetamine.
Brink was also previously arrested for the same offence on October 5, 2016, when she was stopped by police in Eyles Street and tested positive to methamphetamine.
She was also fined $800 and disqualified from driving for six months for that offence on Monday.
