Ms Khiani said she was inspired by her mentor and employer, Ms Samantha Kourtis of Capital Chemist, Charnwood, and praised the education she received at CSU.
"I love everything about community pharmacy, especially the difference we make by looking after the primary health care needs of our customers every day."
Ms Kourtis, herself a CSU graduate and national winner of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia's 2014 Pharmacy of the Year Award, described Seema as passionate, determined and attentive.
“I knew from the first day that she worked with us she was focused on patient outcomes. I really think that as a community pharmacist she will take our profession forward in the future."
The Intern Pharmacist of the Year award recognises interns who demonstrate outstanding performance in their development as professional pharmacists, acting as role models amongst early career pharmacists.
Ms Khiani championed a number of professional initiatives during her intern year including a successful smoking cessation pilot program.
The judges said Ms Khiani displayed exceptional leadership and initiative in health promotion activities.
"Ms Khiani has demonstrated a patient-centric approach to driving the best possible patient outcomes… " the judges concluded.
In July, Ms Khiani will compete with other state and territory winners at the PSA 17 conference for the PSA MIMS National Intern Pharmacist of the Year Award in Sydney.
