As a prequel to the Wizard of Oz the multi-award winning musical tells the back story of Galinda the Good and Elphaba who becomes the Wicked Witch of the West.
The hit musical will entertain audiences at Orange Civic Theatre from May 5 to 21.
Taking part in a dress rehearsal at the band hall in William Street on Sunday, actors rehearsed with a full orchestra for the first time on Sunday.
Director Bruce Buchanan was delighted with the outcome of the sitzprobe, which is the name given to a rehearsal between an orchestra and singers.
“They’ve been rehearsing on their own and we’ve been rehearsing on our own,” Mr Buchanan said.
He said there will be another rehearsal with the orchestra next Sunday but after that there will be two dress-rehearsals at the theatre in Byng Street.
He said the musical will have a high quality set and aerial stunts.
