Andrew David Cadogan, 27, of Kenna Street and a co-accused were caught packing the Lego into a box and trying to sneak it out of the store in a trolley between 5.05pm and 5.20pm on February 2.
Cadogan, who did not appear in court, was fined $1200 by magistrate Terry Lucas, who ordered the property be returned to the owner.
The pair were caught on CCTV and arrested trying to leave the store.
He was also fined $1100 and disqualified from driving for six months for driving on June 1, 2016, with methamphetamine in his system.
No action was taken for a breach of a non-conviction good behaviour bond he was given for drug driving.
