Setu’s credentials are well-known and he returns to the club after a stint in rugby league with the Mudgee Dragons, which netted the former National Rugby Championship gun a premiership.
He’s not the only new Wombat set to have a dig, coach Tony Muller confirmed.
“It’s going to be a different looking team to last year, we’ve got some new guys, along with some of the same faces,” he said.
“Rota’s back, he’s a major asset to have compared to last year. Plus David Birch is back, he was really missed last year, so there’s some really good inclusions.
“And those guys knowing the club is a big benefit. But it’s going to take a few weeks before we find out how we’re going to go.
“As long as they go out and do the best they can that’s all we can hope for.”
Furthermore, he said they’ve working on a new game plan but added patience will be required to get used to it.
“It’ll take a while before everyone completely understands it, because it’s completely different to what they’ve been used to playing,” he said.
“But once they do it should be an attractive game. We’ve got about four guys out who probably would’ve helped, but I’m pretty happy with the squad we’ve got.
“Everybody’s going to be rusty, being the first game, and we’re trying a whole new game plan and it’s going to take a while for these guys to get used to it.
“So it’ll be a matter of being a bit patient and I think it’ll work fine.”
The trip to Parkes is one of the furthest for the season and Muller expects the Boars to put up a fight.
“They’re going to be strong,” he said.
“The last time that we played them here they beat us and Forbes, who are their closest next door neighbours, were in the grand final last year – so they’re very competitive.”
Kick off is at 3.15pm.
