NEWSTEAD MEN
Unfortunately last week’s social bowls were washed out. Last Sunday our Pennants team had a great outing to Cumnock. It was a hard fought afternoon, but we just managed to come out ahead winning all three matches for a 10-0 score.
The teams selected for our game against Wellington to be played at Molong on Sunday, April 2 are:
No.1: Mick Wicks, Noel Elbourn, Pat Neiuwendyk, and Wayne Uren.
No. 2: John Schmich, Bob Cleal, Col Rosser, and Col Townsend.
No.3: Ash Lacey, Barry O’Donnell, Ken Bevan and Roger Annis-Brown.
Reserves are: Toby Wright, Simon Tasker, Garry Norton, Neville Bartimote, Grant Taylor, and Ian Hatswell.
Full Newstead colours are required. If unavailable, please ring Elbows on 0429 378 728.
Transport from Orange to Molong is available and a bus will leave the Robin Hood Hotel carpark on Sunday at 11.30am.
All bowlers looking for a friendly social game are welcome each Wednesday.
ORANGE CITY WOMEN
Fourteen teams of four players rolled up to enjoy the sunshine on Tuesday. The winners of the day drawn by Peg Sharpe who came back to pay a visit, were Kay Kennedy, Diane Griffiths, Nita Bowers and Gail Pringle.
Upcoming events programmed over the next two weeks are the Open Senior Pairs to be played at Newstead on Thursday and Friday. The District Triples to be played in Blayney next Tuesday, April 4 and the District Senior and Open Fours to be played at Orange City on April 11.
Our raffle winners this week are Robyn Mullen and Marie Harvey. 100 Club winners were Marie Thompson Patty Molloy and Irene Dougherty. The Mixed Travellers Bowlers will be holding a meeting at the Orange City Bowling Club on Thursday at 7pm.
Birthday girl for this week is Jenny Manuel. Rosters for the 100 Club this Friday, March 31 are Jan Murray and Marie Harvey. Rosters for the Mixed Travellers Bowlers for Saturday, April 1 are K Syphers and K Carr.
Ladies please don't forget to ring in if you are not going to be playing on Tuesdays as it makes the match committees job difficult when they are doing the draws.
ORANGE CITY MEN
After losses in all grades last weekend there have been many changes along with player returns for this Sundays pennant matches.

Please meet at Orange city at 11:30am. The No.6 team plays Millthorpe at Orange City. Please be at the club by 12:15pm. The No.7 team plays Bathurst City at Orange City. Please be at the club by 12:15pm.
This weekend, final of the Major singles between I Carr and M Stevens, due to begin at 1pm on Saturday.
At the same time there will be the semi finals of the Major pairs. Semi-final one is between J Quinn and D May who take on R May and S May. In the second semi-final B Knott and A Harman tackle D Greatbatch and N Wilson.
Winners will play the final the following week. No midweek bowls played. Thursday night at 7pm the mixed travelling bowlers have a meeting to discuss a proposed visit to Narrabri Bowling Club in late October. All interested members are invited and encouraged to attend the meeting.
COUNTRY CLUB
Last Saturday results of the Major Pairs first round game was won by Jim Finn and Roy Leonard who beat Phillip Powell 25-12 and second round game Reg Robinson and Ian Davidson beat Joe Powyer and John Cooper 24-16.
The Raffle last Saturday was won by Joe Powyer with the lucky bowler s Jim Finn and Roy Leonard with the losers John Cooper and Joe Powyer, the jackpot was not won.
The Final of the Major Singles between Glen Robinson and Lee Stinson will be rescheduled by mutual agreement.
Other first round games of Major Pairs next Saturday at 1pm will be Peter Baker and Denis Morcom versus Cec Leabeater and Kevin Giumelli and Neil Higgins and Fred Maw versus Michael Roach and Phil Knight.
Second round games by private arrangement for next Saturday at 10am Paul Ruggiero and Gary Farrell versus Phil McGarity and Peter Wright and at 1pm Clint Gamble and Matt Gamble versus Reiss Robinson and Glen Robinson and Allan Blake and Tom Leonard versus Jeff Burtenshaw and Mark Baker.
Major Pairs round two at 1pm, on April 8, John Dunn and Ron Dunn versus Greg Murray and James Kemp and Martin Rickards and Peter Griffirh versus Peter Lange and Trevor Ormsby.
Players are encouraged to arrange games earlier and advise Jim and all championship games are play or forfeit with the exception of Finals and those games by private arrangement.
Last Sunday in the fourth round of the pennants again mixed results with the No.4 side losing to Majellan 10-0, thanks to Ron Hartley for filling in.
The No.6 team won over Orange City 9.5 – 0.5 with a +34 margin and No.7 winning over Orange City 9-1 +8 which places the sides in first place in their sections.

Reserves have been rotated to ensure players are qualified to play in post sectional play and those who are expected to be at our club to act as markers and reserves: Bob Jenkins, James Kemp, Michael Roach, Garry Pearce, and Aub Leonard. Last Tuesday 48 players played, with the raffles were won by Glen Beard, Don Crawford and Trevor Ormsby. The lucky bowler s Geoff Spurway, Roger Ferris and Ray Williamson and unlucky bowlers Clint Gambles team, consolation to Tony Bowers, Peter Lange and Wayne Carr and the jackpot was won Kel Howarth, John Cooper and Dick Turnbull.

Manildra Bowling Club
A good result for our No.4 Pennant team on Sunday with a 9-1 win over Wallerwang. Our No.6 team put in a good effort against a strong Parkes Railway outfit but came away with a 1-9 loss.
Two Championship Pairs games were played on Saturday with the father and son teams of Iain and Adam Campbell and Greg and Sam Pallier doing battle, Iain and Adam proved to strong on the day. Newcomer Will Cox teamed up with Tim Williamson and took on Troy Williams and Ned Kurta, with Troy and Ned taking the win. Please check the board for teams and transport details.
Friday night twilights this week were Dan Mullins and Mark Gosper, runners up Kim Campbell , Paul Trevena and Guy Smith.
