But despite his robust size, Percy isn’t to be feared.
Instead he will travel through Cowra, Canowindra, Cargo and Nashdale on his way to Orange to raise awareness about Country Education Foundation of Australia’s work.
Country Education Foundation of Boorowa chairman Justin Fleming said Percy aimed to make sure every student, no matter what their background, could achieve their goals.
“The costs associated with pursuing further education and training after school are considerable,” he said.
“Many young people from the bush are missing out because their families can’t afford to send them away.”
The Country Education Foundation is committed to ensuring students in regional areas can attend university, a trade, TAFE or any other form of higher education.
It has helped almost 4000 students in the past 24 years and releases annual scholarships and university survival guides.
Mr Fleming said Percy passed his vet checks on Sunday and set off on his journey from Boorowa, with teams of community members pushing him along.
He will pass through several pit stops along the way, until he arrives in Orange on Saturday.
Mr Fleming said Percy wanted as many people to jump on board in any way they could and would take donations of any size.
Proceeds from the trip will go to deserving students.
