The couple, who were both born in Orange, met at a dance and have been together for 50 years.

Mrs Sharp said there were several keys to a long marriage.

“It’s about trust, working together and sharing experience,” she said.

The couple said they admired each other for different reasons.

“He’s very helpful, he’s understanding and he’s true to his word,” Mrs Sharp said.

“Very similar to what Pam said about me. She’s very loving” Mr Sharp said.

Mrs Sharp said she and her husband had enjoyed a rich family life.

“It’s been a wonderful marriage with two beautiful kids and grandkids have come along now,” she said.

“Our lives revolve around them, it’s a real family thing.”

The couple will celebrate their anniversary with family and friends.
