Students raised $450 in gold coin donations for the Fred Hollows Foundation.
Year four teacher Cheree Pell said students were engaged with both the day and the cause.
“The kids made their own glasses and added streamers to get into the spirit of the day,” Mrs Pell said.
Mrs Pell said the students were taught about the work of the Fred Hollows Foundation during their lessons.
“A few of the classes were shown videos of children getting sight for the first time,” she said.
“A lot of children said they can’t believe it’s only $25 for someone can see again.
“Members of the student representative council went around to the classes and spoke about [the foundation].”
The day was run by members of the student representative council.
The foundation works to eliminate avoidable blindness and enable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to exercise their right to good health.
