The school supplies will be distributed to children who otherwise would have no school supplies of their own.
Jenny’s Classroom and Toys 2 has become the first business to provide donations to the Orange based Helpa Collective for the initiative after the two organisations became aware that there were children who were missing out.
Helpa Collective founder Lee Chapman said her charity supplies items to places such as refuges and this was the first time a business has come on board.
She said the items that will be distributed at the school included exercise books, scrap books, pens, pencils and glue sticks.
Orange Public School principal said the donations would ensure all students have the supplies they need in the classroom.
“It just ensures every student starts on a level ground on what’s required,” Mr Tom said.
“It’s not unusual for some families to find it difficult financially and this is just a system that can assist and ensure all students are able to start in the best possible way.”
Jenny’s Classroom and Toys 2 co-owner Trina Graham said her business supplies school packs to the school’s students and she has seen families find it challenging to pay for the packs.
She said about $150 worth of supplies was donated with parents of other students contributing to the cause when they bought school packs.
