So much so, Evocities Mountain Bike Series (MTB) organisers have been forced to cancel this weekend’s leg – the Ginja Ninja 300 – at Kinross State Forest because of how hot it’s supposed to be on Sunday.
The mercury is forecast to top out at an egg-frying 36 degrees celsius, which of course would be intensified substantially in the sauna-like forest.
“After considerable deliberation and consultation among the large group that involves clubs, organisers, sponsors, councils, [Mountain Bike Australia] and other agencies we have decided to cancel this weekend’s race,” Evocities organisers said, via the event’s Facebook page.

“Put simply, it’s too hot.
“We want the Evocities to deliver quality events, fun and for riders to enjoy their weekends away.
“With a predicted 36-degree high temperature for Sunday we can’t see how this is possible.”
It had already been postponed from November last year.
