On a massage table? Chilling out at home mentally pysching himself up on a expertly-prepared diet of high energy foods or just sound asleep somewhere?
Err, no. Wentworth professional Todd Brakenridge was at the golf course pro shop, a true glutton for punishment.
“I should be at home getting a massage,” he said.
“But there’s no preps, no massages for us.
“In fact there’s zero preps for this one, we are going to wing it.”
Brakenridge, top player Costa Mavros and late entrant Troy Swain will tee off at 5.30am on Wednesday aiming to complete 12 rounds by 8.30pm – all in the name of raising money for Team Wentworth’s Relay For Life.
In fact Mavros’s preparation was even less than Brakenridge as he had to drive up from Sydney to Orange on Tuesday afternoon.
Joining them at the last minute is new Wentworth member Troy Swain.
“He pulled me aside a couple of weeks ago and said he wanted in. I thought Costa and I were the only ones stupid enough.”
Brakenridge said they would use a cart to get around, would keep score and would adopt an early speed tactic to keep up the pace necessary to complete 18 holes every 75 minutes.
“I guess the pattern for the first six to eight rounds will be hit and run.
“Being so quick we might not get time for much banter.”
The other problem is that they will be starting at dawn, when it is barely light.
“It will be just light enough to hit the ball and see where it’s gone.
“It’s completely exploratory,” Brakenridge said.
