Spooner and Maryia Shoesmith were tied on 179 after the first game and took a slight lead after the second game.
But, Shoesmith bounced back in the third after bowling 193 to Spooner’s 147. In the end just 24 pins split the pair.
Orange Tenpin Bowl assistant manager Jason Brown said a highlight of the day was Orange teenager Micaylah Downey winning the restricted women’s section, which includes handicaps.
“This is the second time she has won it.
“The first time she won it she was nine years old.
“She averaged 178 for the day. Her normal average is 153,” he said.
Kallan Strong won the restricted men’s division by 42 pins.
Orange’s Bevan Bryant was fourth behind Ben Walsh from Dubbo.
“He missed out on third place by just three pins over 10 games,” Brown said.
More than 250 bowlers competed last weekend.
