That’s all Orange and Mudgee managed in the two sides’ opening Mitchell Cricket Council Colts Carnival clash at Victoria Oval on Friday, before the game was abandoned due to rain.
Well, technically it was 2.4 overs, because Mudgee’s bowlers managed to bowl four wides.
They were the only runs Orange earned too, after winning the toss and batting first. CYMS’ Mick Hannelly and Kinross’ Charlie Mitton didn’t manage to score any off the bat.
“Yeah, two overs, that’s it,” Orange coach Max Dodds laughed.
“We can see the funny side, but we are really disappointed it because we were definitely backing ourselves, we felt like we were good enough to get the job done.”
The side travelled back to Orange immediately, to prepare for Saturday’s scheduled clash against the Blue Mountains at Wade Park. Although the covers were down for most of Friday, there is some doubt surrounding whether the game will go ahead.
We felt like we were more than good enough to get the job done.
- Orange coach Max Dodds
“We’re really hoping to play,” Dodds said.
“This is a gun side, they’ve bought into our plans and they desperately want to win this competition. Here’s hoping we can get on against the Cattle Pups.” Saturday’s game is scheduled to start at 10am.
