One of the year’s highlights will be ‘Australasian Painters: 2007 – 2017’, our partnership exhibition with the highly-regarded Artist Profile magazine.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the magazine and we’re delighted to host this major survey of painting from the last decade.
The exhibition will be exclusive to Orange and includes key works from 150 artists represented in the magazine, presenting the very best in contemporary painting.
This year will also see the gallery once again celebrating and supporting artists from the Central West with exhibitions featuring the works of Ros Auld, Neil Cuthbert, Jane Tyack and Peter Wilson.
The ‘100 km Art Show’ – a regular event in which we open the gallery to all artists in the Orange area – will also reveal the talent and ingenuity in our region.
Similarly Orange Camera Club’s 60th anniversary exhibition will present the work of our budding and seasoned photographers.
Collectors from our region will be invited to contribute works from their personal collections for ‘Private treasures, public pleasures’ and curators from the Central West will bring fresh perspectives to the gallery’s permanent collection in the ‘Different takes: guest curator’ series.
This year we welcome Sonny Day and Cecilie Knowles as our guest curators.
Surveys of the works of Elisabeth Cummings, Mandy Martin and William Yang will tour to Orange in the second half of the year.
These fine exhibitions will offer a rare opportunity to encounter the work of three of Australia’s most significant and influential contemporary artists.
We end the year with our annual celebration of drawing with the ‘Kedumba Drawing Award 2017’, accompanied by ‘That’s me!’, an exhibition of children’s portrait drawings from our primary schools.
The best way to stay up to date and support the gallery is to join the Friends of Orange Regional Gallery (FORG).
They have some exciting fundraising initiatives planned for this year. Simply visit www.org.nsw.gov.au and go to the Friends page to join up.
