Around 25 people attended a 30-minute open viewing of the Racecourse Road development.
Millthorpe resident Jennifer Collins went along for a look because she had some questions about how the development would be managed.
“What are the levies to maintain the site? Who will take care of the shared areas?” she said.
“It’s lovely having the lake and water though.”
Former Orange resident David Crossman, who was not at the viewing but was interested in the development, welcomed the launch of the Bluestone Lake.
“I grew up just down the road from the quarry on Racecourse Road and later in Laurel Avenue,” Mr Crossman said.
“While the quarry was a fun place to play as a kid it has always been an eyesore and a scar on the landscape.
“I think the development is a great idea and it will make the area so much nicer.”
Orange resident Rick Evans said there were some positives to the developments.
“Orange has picked itself up over years and with the suburbs popping up everywhere the community is growing fast,” Mr Evans said.
“We don’t have anything similar to what Bluestone is offering its residents and could mean more things to come for Orange.”

One Agency real estate agent Ash Brown said he had distributed four contracts at the open viewing, with two expressions of interest for purchase.
“We’re pleased with the response, interest and sales so far,” Mr Brown said.
“It’s a bit of an unknown, we haven’t had a development like this.
“The owner is extremely happy with how it's developing. We look forward to further progress over the next couple of months.”
Mr Brown said maintenance fees were paid by Bluestone Lake residents and were similar to land rates.
“Everyone who owns a block contributes to a fund which is an upkeep and maintenance fund then it’s all taken care of,” Mr Brown said.
“It’s not a big amount, the developer is still working that out.”
Bluestone Lake will feature a 16-house community and stage one is expected to begin from March to April.
