Sunday marks the club’s first meeting of the year and starts the build-up towards the annual Wellington Boot feature, which will be run on Country Championships Central Districts Qualifier day.
Sunday’s meeting will consist of seven races and looks set to feature a number of in-form gallopers, including a number of potential runners from Orange.
Alison Smith has nominated a couple of gallopers for the Wellington meet, as has Michael Plummer.
Smith nominated eight-year-old chestnut gelding Judo along with six-year-old brown gelding Oywotzy for the second, the $50,000 Benchmark 55 Handicap (900m).
Plummer’s regular country runners Hoffa Express and Royal Abbey are listed in the potential fields for the fourth and fifth, the Class 1 Handicap (1100m) and Class 1 and Maiden Plate (1700m), respectively.
Ten last start winners have been nominated, including In Ernest and Not On Time, who both won at Wellington on Boxing Day.
Another one who will be keenly watched on Sunday, should he get a start, is Rodney Robb’s Jen See See.
The Nyngan trainer made his annual trip to outback Queensland last year and the four-year-old starred on that tour, recording wins at Betoota, Birdsville and Bedourie.
