It’s January and we’re still nine months away from any sort of meaningful silverware being dished out, but the Blayney Rams can dare to dream.

The club is about to embark on its 60th anniversary season, with the Rams to take part in the GrainCorp Cup’s southern division again in 2017.
Having won the 2015 title over Canowindra then progressing through a successful defence of their premiership with a commanding victory over Cootamundra in last year’s grand final, the Rams are gunning for a third straight title.
It's shaping up as a big year for us, and we're certainly hoping the success continues.
- Blayney Rams rugby union club secretary Brendan Scott
Club secretary Brendan Scott says that’s a very real possibility too, with nigh on all of the club’s players backing up for the anniversary season, premiership winning coaches Cameron Hobby and Brock Syphers have been reinstated for another year, too.
“It's shaping up as a big year for us, and we're certainly hoping the success continues,” Scott said.
“A lot of hard work goes into the club. It’s not an overnight thing. The work off the field by all the committee ensures the players just have to worry about playing.”
That committee Scott refers to was voted in at the club’s annual general meeting in December, with Craig Gosewisch staying on as president.
Sean Toohey will be the vice president while veteran prop Sam Nixon is the club’s treasurer.
Scott says the AGM was well attended by up to 30 people, with the only change to the board the absence of Andrew Russ, who stands down to concentrate on his Rotary Club commitments.
The club will begin training on Monday, February 6, with Scott calling on anyone interested to get involved with the club.
“To be honest, I don’t think we’ve had anyone indicate they won’t be back. But it’s always nice to see a few new faces when training rolls around,” he added.
The club will hold a player sign-on day at on February 11 with the now annual Blayney Rams versus Millthorpe Mozzies/Rams Old Boys trial match on March 25.
The major 60-year celebrations will commence on the June long weekend, with the club holding a black tie ball.
